Drusilla:
Princess of Rome

“I, Claudius” meets “The Other Boleyn Girl.”

Drusilla never imagined herself at the center of an empire’s most dangerous secrets. But when her father dies under suspicious circumstances, she is thrust into a world of political intrigue and ruthless ambition, where power is a deadly game and the price of losing is death—not only for Drusilla, but for everyone she loves.

I have always been fascinated by the untold stories of powerful women in history, particularly those who navigated worlds dominated by male ambition and violence. The character of Drusilla captivated me because she represents a figure caught in the crossfire of love, loyalty, and ruthless political ambition. In researching Ancient Rome, I discovered not only its grandeur but its hidden terrors, and I was struck by how the women of that era endured, fought, and often influenced history from the shadows.

“Drusilla’s story allowed me to explore themes of power, betrayal, and resilience through a lens that is at once deeply personal and broadly relevant to understanding human ambition and relationships. I wanted to give voice to a character who could embody both vulnerability and strength, and who would challenge our notions of loyalty and destiny. Writing Drusilla has been a way to bring the past to life in a way that feels hauntingly resonant with women’s struggles today for identity, agency, and survival in a world where power often comes at a steep price.
